The exhibition is closed - the Danish Music Museum moves to new premises!

As per December 1, 2010, the Danish Music Museum closed the exhibitions and started packing the instruments. The plan is to move the museum to new premises in the same building as the Royal Danish Academy of Music - and the re-opening is scheduled to the autumn 2013.

The library and the office are still open - hours are to be found on visitor information.

The world of musical instruments

The museum’s evocative exhibitions provide a historic journey through the fascinating world of European musical instruments, with a special emphasis on the period from the renaissance to the beginning of the 20th century. See such curiosities as the amoeba-shaped violin and the giraffe-piano. Or visit one of the many permanent thematic exhibitions focusing on for example the raucous guitars of the mid-60’s Danish rock bands, or the ingenious creations of Danish instrument-makers.
The museum has had a constantly varying series of special exhibitions.
